Session 3: Trauma and Injury – Second quiz

Welcome to our second quiz.

You have another 7 minutes and 7 questions.

One of you will again need to record your answers on a bit of paper to feed back in 6 minutes 50 second’s time. (reckon you were faster that time!)

  1. If you suspect that a casualty has fallen and broken their leg – what might be the signs and symptoms you would be looking for?
  2. One of your Scouts at camp has tripped over a guy line and has a suspected broken arm.
What medical / first aid actions do you need to take?     What non-medical actions also need to be done?
  3. Injuries to the soft structure around the bones and joints are commonly called strains and sprains. The injury occurs when a ligament or tendon around a joint has been torn or pulled. This type of injury has similar symptoms to a fracture. If I doubt what should you do?
  4. Remember RICE when treating a soft tissue injury:  What is RICE?
  5. Head injuries are quite common but can become very serious. A head injury can include your scalp, face, skull, or brain and range from mild to severe.  When, following a head injury, must you seek medical help? (List at least 8!)
  6. Levels of response is measured using AVPU .  How?
  7. Should you ever attempt to replace a displaced tooth back into its socket?
