The District Team is expanding and we need you

As we move to the Green readiness level and see a return to “normal” scouting we are keen to recruit volunteers to key vacancies in the District to enable us to support our leaders and our young people.

 

Adventurous Activities Lead

 

The role is responsible for the following:

  • Ensure that activity permits in the District are renewed by an approved assessor.
  • Work closely with both the Assistant County Commissioner Activities and the Manager of the Activity Permit Scheme.
  • Promote the permit scheme and along with the County Activity team and assessors will help to arrange permit training for leaders in the District.

District Explorer Scout Commissioner

 

The District Explorer Scout Commissioner is the Manager of the Explorer Scout Section. They are responsible for its effective operation of the developing of quality Explorer Scouting in the District in accordance with the Purpose, Principles and Policies of The Scout Association. This may be with the help of District Explorer Scout Administrators, District Explorer Scout Leaders and Explorer Scout Leader (Young Leaders) as appropriate.

District Communications Team

The District Communications team is comprised of many roles. You may decide that you have the skills for most of the roles or just one.

Newsletter – We are looking for a volunteer to create and put together the District newsletter.

Website and Digital Content – The District is looking to develop a new website and are looking for a volunteer to lead on the project. Ideally they will also manage the website and keep it up to date however these roles can be completed by two people.

Social Media – We are looking for a vibrant volunteer to run our social media channels, currently Facebook, twitter and Instagram. From showcasing the Groups and the District to recruitment campaigns this role is vital in keeping the District visible and current.

District Communications Manager – Fancy leading the whole team? Great then we have a role for you too! Your role will be to ensure that all digital and social media content is on brand and is pitched to our target audience. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the website remains current and up to date and that timely communications and sent to our leaders.

 

Programme and Top Awards Lead

We are looking for a volunteer to promote the top awards across the District. This will involve working with young people, section leaders, GSL’s and the District Team and will focus on promoting and celebrating the top awards including Awards ceremonies and thank you events.

 

Online Scout Manager Lead

We are looking for an individual that is proficient in the use if OSM and is willing to help groups transition onto OSM and will be the first point of call for questions and queries.

This is not a big role but would be very beneficial to groups who need some support.

 

Executive Committee Secretary

We are looking for a volunteer to join the Executive Committee as the Exec secretary. The Secretary provides administrative support to the Chair, sends out the agenda, minutes of previous meetings and relevant supporting documents. The secretary is an Ex Officio member (Trustee) of the District Executive Committee. You should have good administrative skills. Previous executive committee experience is desirable but not essential.

 

Appointments Advisory Committee Member

We are looking to expand the pool of volunteers who sit on the appointments advisory committee. The Appointments Advisory Committee’s main function is to assist with the process of appointing and welcoming volunteers into the Scouts by advising on their suitability.

Nights Away Advisor

We are looking to increase the number of night’s away advisors in the District. A night’s away advisor is responsible for assessing leaders and supporting them in gaining a night’s away permit. As we arrange training for this role at present we are looking for expressions of interest only.

Deputy District Commissioner

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the District Team as Deputy District Commissioner.
