Up and Running Pt 2: Running Safe Activities (M17) Practical Skills (M18)

Date: 12th March 2023 Between: 9:00 am - 12:30 pm Location: Ben Nevis Hall, Scout Park, Gordon Road, N11 2PB

Up and Running is a focused day of learning covering four adult training modules. For convenience it is divided into two parts. You can join us for the morning, afternoon, or full day. (Please note you cannot join us for just one module). Refreshments are supplied but if you are with us for the day, please bring your own lunch.

Running Safe Activities – Aim

To enable adults to plan and run exciting, safe and developmental activities for the young people in

their section.

Topics covered

  • The importance of activities as a regular part of a high-quality balanced programme
  • The processes that need to be followed to carry out any indoor or outdoor activities in Scouting
  • Managing groups during the activity, including the Leader in Charge principle
  • Planning suitable activities, with appropriate risk assessment and communication
  • InTouch system, activity rules, parental permission, and procedures in event of an accident or incident

Change of role

Revalidation of this module is required when changing from a supporter role to a leader role.

Practical Skills – Aim
To encourage adults to gain and develop practical skills for the benefit of the young people in their
section.

  • Sharing practical skills with young people
