Workbooks and e-learning

If you are not in a position to use zoom, you can complete the training for a number of modules via e-learning or workbooks.
We have listed the modules below and provided the necessary links.
The Fundamentals of Scouting: (Module 5)
The Fundamentals is required learning for all adults in Scouting working towards their Wood Badge. This module  considers both The Fundamentals and the Religious Policy and how they relate to the programme delivered to young people. The module also explores Scouting’s the core Values.
Topics covered:
  • The Fundamentals- the Purpose, Values and Method
  • The Religious Policy
  • Spiritual development
e-learning. This will function on a range of systems and devices, detailed in the e-learning FAQs.
You are recommended to watch the how-to-guide video for using e-learning before you begin . This can be viewed here.
Please note:  Please take a screenshot (or photo) of the final page prior to selecting the certificate as proof of learning, in case your certificate will not load and only shows a blank screen. This can be shared with your Training Adviser when you meet to discuss the learning and validate the module.

This is a mandatory module for those who are completing a Wood Badge. It aims to provide leaders, managers and supporters with information about how we deliver quality Scouting to young people, and how we ensure it meets their needs.

Growing the Section: (Module 13)
Covers ways in which an adult volunteering with a section can assist their line manager and others to plan for and contribute to the growth of their section and/or group.

Supporting Young People: (Module 14)
This module is aimed at all section leaders and other adults supporting young people in Scouting. It aims to enable adult volunteers working with young people, to understand and meet their needs.

  • Creating a supportive environment for young people.
  • Responding to issues affecting young people.

Promoting Positive Behaviour: (Module 15)
This module is aimed at all section leaders and other adults supporting young people in Scouting. It aims to enable adult volunteers to proactively promote positive behaviour and appropriately manage challenging behaviour in their section.

  • Planning for positive behaviour; principles and strategies.
  • Responding to challenging behaviour.
