Founders Day Service

Date: 29th Feb 2020 Author: Joe

Young people from across the County and members of Barnet Borough Network had the honour of representing not only GLN but also from across UK Scouting at the annual Founder’s Day service at Westminster Abbey last weekend.  There were Scouts from 2nd Barnet, Explorer Scouts came from Vernon Venturers ESU in Barnet Borough, Argo ESU in Hampstead, North London District and Parker Bowles ESU in Enfield.  Two members of Barnet Borough Scout Network, Sophie de Naeyer and Lucy Jones had the honour of doing the reading during the service and laying a wreath at the Baden-Powell Memorial Stone.  Both Sophie and Lucy have recently achieved their Queen’s Scouts Award and are soon to be presented with their certificates and badges.  UK Deputy Chief Commissioner Graeme Hamilton was well impressed.  Huge thanks to the two iconic ESLs Liz and Les Glindon who gladly took on the job to find Explorer Scouts and manage and support them on the day – a day which they will never forget.
