Skills of Management (Manager and Supporter training)

Between: 3rd October 2020 - 4th October 2020 Between: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm Location: The Jack Petchey Lodge, Gilwell Park, Bury Road, Chingford, E4 7QW

One of three courses all aimed at members who hold Manager and/or Supporter roles in Scouting. (Supporters include volunteers who don’t line manage other volunteers, but who work with and support adults in Scouting.)

All three courses aim to provide members with the skills needed to carry out their role effectively and support others in doing the same. Each course helps the learner to build upon knowledge gained from their Independent Learning and to draw on their own life experiences and that of others in their tutor group.

We are running the two days with our colleagues in Greater London North East and the course covers:

  • How you lead
  • Communication and Active listening,
  • How we work together
  • Motivating your Team
  • Mentoring,
  • Coaching and Supporting,
  • Building relationships.

We want these courses to have the widest appeal, so whether you have recently been appointed, or been in post for a while; if you already hold a Manager’s Wood Badge, (but would like a refresh), or are just thinking about taking up a manager/supporter appointment, we would very much like you to register for this training.
Refreshments, a buffet lunch and an evening meal will be provided on the Saturday. (The day runs for 10.00am – 7.00pm)
Overnight accommodation and breakfast will also be available for a small supplement (£10.00) payable at the course.  Sunday completes the course (9.00am – 1.00pm)
