The Hatters Explorer Unit have been working in Tsinstabis for the past week and have sent a few updates by SMS message as communications are not great from the village. Here is one which has the details of what they have been doing:

Monday 8th August
“Having a great time. it’s really tiring though, working all day in the sun. Don’t worry, we are all putting loads of cream on! We take a break from 1 to 3 when it’s hottest. We have built toilets trenches.  We’ve dug all the holes for the trees, fixing the fence round the perimeter and inserted tubes deep into the ground to get water.  Miss you all, but I am having a really good time” (Ben)
The Unit have caught the attention of the Namibian press – see this link from the New Era newspaper

Simon Holt (home contact) has has received some photographs  via Jim Kastelic, the Deputy Chief Scout of Namibia who is absolutely full of praise for the Hatters and all the hard work they are putting in. The project was officially handed over to the San community yesterday evening and after a very tearful goodbye, the unit is now off to Etosha National Park. Over the next five days or so the unit will be out on safari helping the Park Rangers.
