The 15th World Scout Moot will be held in the dramatic landscape of Iceland 25th July to 2nd August 2017. The event is for young people aged between 18 and 25 inclusive with IST aged 26+.
The UK Contingent will be taking over 500 participants and 150 IST to The Moot, where a total of 5000 participants and 1000 IST from 80 countries around the world will join together to embark on 9 days of adventure, fun and discovery
The theme of Moot is Change. All members of the UK contingent will need to embrace change on their journey to The Moot, whether this is in their own lives or their local community. Change will be an integral part of the contingent journey, including during briefing weekends and the Moot event itself.
Meet the GLN participants:
Alice DeNaeyer, 4th East Barnet:
“I applied for the Moot because I had such an amazing time at the WSJ in Japan ! It made me want to go on another adventure. What I aim to get out of the Moot is to meet new people, learn some of the language, and to generally just have an amazing time with so many wonderful people!”
Georgia Murphy, 1st/3rd New Barnet:
“I applied to the moot as I was told international events are an amazing experience and wanted to experience one first hand. Whilst in Iceland, I’d like to meet as many scouts from around the world as possible and see how scouting has had an impact on those I meet”
Daniel Brown, 4th Wood Green
“I love meeting new people through scouting and am very excited to be meeting scouts from around the world in such a unique environment”
Louise Azavedo, 20th Edmonton
“I wanted to bring more awareness of international opportunities that young people can participate in. I firmly believe that a Leader is one not only someone who encourages and inspires young people but also someone who demonstrates what is possible”
