Can you Speak Up for Scouting? Here’s a great opportunity!

Attending a Scouts Speak Up course can lead to all sorts of things – attendees from Greater London North have gone on to spend time with Bear Grylls, meet Graham Norton live on Radio, appear on television, be the host of large events – and even become Deputy UK Youth Commissioner! Even if none of these happen, you’ll still have a great weekend and get a huge boost in self confidence!

Greater London South East Scouts are running a Scouts Speak Up workshop for young people aged 13+ to 17 and have a few places available for Greater London North Scouts.

The Scouts Speak Up (SSU) / Young Spokesperson (YSP) workshop experience is a specially designed course for our young people to offer everything they need to know to achieve the following:
• To enhance the skills and confidence needed to talk about their experiences in Scouting to a wide variety of audiences
• To learn how to plan and carry out campaigns with the media about the Scouting activities they are involved in
• To influence others of the value of what they are doing so that they are able to act as spokespeople for local Scouting – whether this means sitting on the BBC Breakfast sofa or speaking to local businesses
• To develop their presenting skills

This training is running from 9am Saturday 25th February to 4pm Sunday 26th February at Wilberforce Scout Campsite, Downe Road, Road, Kent BR2 6AD.

The cost is £15 per head for members of Greater London North Scouts. Accommodation and meals will be provided.
